The York Neighborhood Planning Committee

Saturday, February 17, 2007

Nelson’s Market, 10 a.m.

 

Present: Tom Scott, Lisa McShane, Anne Mackie, Elliott Smith, Lynn Gobush

  1. Overview

This committee is a sub committee of the York Neighborhood Association, and formed to create an update of the York Neighborhood Plan, last

Revised in  2005 (?)

  1. Timeline

It should take approximately 2 years (2007-2008) to complete the plan.

The final proposal and letter of intent are due December 1, 2008.

  1. Funding

We have $2,500 for this work plus $700 (where from??).

5 hours of staff time from the Bellingham Planning Dept. is available to us, and there may be more.

      4. Structure

                        The YNA Board will be encouraged to participate in this committee.

                        Lynn will be acting as secretary for the group.

                        The first task of the committee is to build membership.

Recruitment will be highlighted at the upcoming YNA General Meeting, Feb. 28.

 

Strategy, tactics and publicity will be discussed  later.

 

Using Libby Stark’s list,  Anne, Lisa and Tom will look at individuals to invite to join and act as a temporary recruiting committee.

 

The list of those who attended the recent Rezone meeting should be tapped for people who could serve on this committee.

 

Helen Jackson should be used to do the technical work.

 

Tom will do e-mailing.

  1. Anne will act as chairman of the committee.

Tom is interested in acting as vice chair.

  1. Scheduling

Meetings for this committee are set for the 1st Monday of each month, at 7 p.m..
